There are many advanced treatments available for the couples suffering from infertility issues. Depending on the degree of infertility, the experts calculate the percentage of risk and then prescribe the right treatment. The most prescribed procedures to resolve infertility issues and conception are intrauterine insemination (IUI) and in-vitro fertilization (IVF).

What is IUI?

It is a simple treatment for infertility where a woman is inseminated with high-quality and clinically-checked semen samples. A catheter is used to directly deliver semen within a woman’s womb for the fertilization process.

IUI Treatment is prescribed by the experts when the infertility issues are mild and can be solved by a simple medico-mechanical manoeuvre. This process is also called artificial insemination. It is recommended by the doctors when the following situations arise.

  • Hostile mucus in cervical region
  • Male infertility
  • unexplained reasons for infertility in a couple
  • Use of fertility drugs might solve the problem
  • Necessity of a sperm donor
  • Pain during intercourse

What is IVF?

In-vitro fertilization (IVF), on the other hand, is a process where the ovum is artificially inseminated or fertilized outside the human body and then cultured for a few days before introducing it in the womb. IVF is done when several attempts of IUI have generated unsuccessful results.

Different between IUI and IVF

  • Cost

IVF cost in Mumbai is higher than IUI treatments. The former one is more invasive and needs immense care from the experts. A strict regime is followed to become prepared for the procedure.

  • Challenge

IUI is less challenging than IVF due to the processes involved in various processes. IVF involves more intricate processes and phases of medications in order to increase the success rate.

  • Multiple birth

The chances of multiple births are higher in IVF treatments. In order to increase the success rate, more than one fertilized ovum is introduced in the womb. There is a higher possibility of conceiving more than one child in IVF.

Final words

The specialists often suggest going for IUI first and then proceed to IVF when necessary. If the diagnosed problem is more critical, IVF is recommended.
